DIFFICULTIES IN TEACHING AND LEARNING ORGANIC CHEMISTRY HIGHER EDUCATION - A CASE STUDY TWO FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES. This research investigates difficulties associated to the curricular component Organic Chemistry I based on a study case of undergraduate courses (Bachelor and Teachers education) in two Federal Universities Brazilian South region. The analytical process integrated official documents (pedagogic projects, students’ grades), questionnaires, interviews, researcher’s logbook classes. Results show that success is lower than sum failure, unattendance, temporary cancellation rates altogether offered by different teachers institutions studied. complex scenario highlighted relation factors affect learning teaching processes courses. subjects’ responses highlight related specific contents, such as conformation spatial visualization molecules, stereochemistry, reaction mechanisms; lack concepts from High School; individual habits characteristics teachers, students, or both, didactics, concentration, engagement. results report importance rethinking strategies methodologies context Higher Education
